Snapshots (1996) for woodwind quintet and piano
Commissioned by pianist Michiko Otaki for her tours with the Warsaw Wind Quintet, Snapshots is a set of five musical pictures of places that have been important to me. Here’s an excerpt from the third movement, a “big-band’ jazz-style piece inspired by my hometown in central California.
Devotional (2006) for cello and piano
Performed here by the performers for whom it was written, Dorothy and Cary Lewis, this is Matins, the first of seven movements. It’s a sound picture of a calm morning before dawn. (This is a large file, almost 20 Mb, so it may take some time loading.)
Reviews:
Fanfares and Antiphons (1992) for organ:
“Music that in Weaver’s [Fanfares and Antiphons] began triumphal and grand developed into taut, bracing showers of sound.”
